Taxes/Assessing
Reviewing your card for mistakes could save you money!
This is a reevaluation year. The assessor says a letter will be going out to all tax payers at the end of July. It’s always a good idea to get a copy of your tax card once a year (after April 1st) to keep track of any changes that may occur. Call the assessors office with any questions.
FYI-The code enforcement officer has removed information from tax cards that referred to seasonal vs. year-round (unless you have a variance or a letter from the code enforcement
officer stating which one describes your property). If you believe you are year-round and want it verified, call Town Hall
329-4100 ext. 4 for the code enforcement officer. Please leave a contact number so she can get back to you. She will research and document all your history and send you a letter with the results. It will also be in your file at Town Hall.
To change from a seasonal dwelling to a permanent occupancy you need a variance. To get a variance, you need to obtain an application from the Hampstead Board of Adjustment. You will need a professional to help you with the soil requirements.
The zoning ordinance is on the Hampstead website at
www.hampsteadnh.us (Seasonal Dwelling Conversion- iv-5:0) or you can get a copy at Town Hall. Please call Town Hall with any questions.
